The Duffman is clearly living his best life these days. Corey Duffel has come a long way from being the kid in tight jeans doing f/s 180s down massive parking lot gaps with duct tape over his mouth, but he’s still got that delightfully dark side that riveted us in the first place. Asked what the most interesting thing he’s been up to recently, he went straight to the point: “I stoped riding for Foundation Skateboards after 18 years.” The end of an era, to be sure, but he adds that he’s “working on some new video and art projects with my skateboarding. Embracing change and moving forward :)”.It’s amazing to see people cruise into life after pro stardom so gracefully, and Corey certainly has stuck the landing. He put two long, fun parts out last year, kicked it with Kevin Rodrigues in the Supreme video, and is still running his clothing brand, Devium. Besides that, he’s got a sick interview with @transnormativity in our latest issue, and the amazing, progressive record store/skate shop in his hometown (Up the Creek Records), which he co-owns and works at, was the first shop to reach out about pre-ordering the mag, even before he knew he’d be in it. Makes sense, as they told Walnut Creek’s local blog that they “are hoping to welcome everyone to the sport, especially beginner skaters, girl skaters, LGBTQ skaters as well as creaky-kneed old skaters”. We fucking love it.Oh and, his TEN TRAX is dominated by groovy, dreamy, and slightly melancholy rock jams — perfect for a crisp, autumnal cruise to the coffee shop — and we also love it. Thanks Corey, keep killing it!
