Take a tour of Washington State’s worn-in, woebegone backroads and byways in “Evergreen Blues,” a new 16mm edit by Seattle area videographer Ben Ericson. He follows local concrete shredder Dylan Dowd around to the many concrete parks peppered across Washington, documenting the forlorn and often haunting scenery along the way. I might be biased, because I’m from the Northwest, but there’s something about this place—especially the experience of being a skateboarder in this place—that is difficult to put into words. Ben captures it masterfully on film. Also, while you’re noodling around on his Vimeo, make sure to check out Griffin Gass’ “Pacific Standard Time” part, also shot on 16mm, and Ben’s full-length video from 2018, Outer Limits. -TCB
