You wait all year for the day, and then it’s over just like that. Vans Shop Riot (Athens edition) went off with the power of a diesel-powered rhinoceros on fire. It was fun, essentially.
The Summer heat was baring down on us, and since most of the skaters had been tearing around Oaka Skate Plaza since noon, it’s a wonder everybody made it through. But hell yeah they did!

We saw a lot of faces, old and new, including dear friends Panos Ioupis and Arthur Kiviliov, who trekked it over from Germany.

Minos Skateshop from Crete were over, with our bro Panagiotis Giakoumakis, but sadly they lost in the first round to Athens’ oldest skate shop, MicroXtreme.

Charis Markou had a bad slam. But like always Charis knows how to take the pain, he walked away like a proper hardcore dude. Love you, get well soon.

Speaking of injuries. Notis Agelis – The Right Honourable Lord Skate of Thessaloniki Manor – was back on his board at Vans Shop Riot Greece, and was killing it like he’d never been away.

But even after all the incredible talent showcased at Vans Shop Riot Greece 2017, from the local shops and their skaters, there could be just one victor…

And the winner is…
MicroXtreme

It seems Notis Agelis was well and truly back on his board, and with an absurdly sick team of him, Giorgio Zavos and John Michel, MicroXtreme strolled away with a well deserved first place at Vans Shop Riot Greece. We can’t wait to see what they can do at the finals in Milan.
3rd place: Color Skates2nd place: Slut Boardshop1st place: MicroXtremeBest trick: Arthur Kiviliov.
A massive shout out to Ministry of Concrete, Color Skates, Slut Boardshop, MicroXtreme, Minos Skateshop and all the other shops that helped make 2017’s Vans Shop Riot Greece a day to remember. And of course, a huge thank you to judges Danny Wainwright, Sam Partaix and Thomas Galanis.
See you next year.
