Our favourite star reader and personal essay slayer Bitty is back with all the astrological info you need for a November full of bonfires, fireworks and, of course, skateboarding. Bitty would like to dedicate this month’s Skaterscopes to Walter Mercado, who inspired Bitty and these pieces.

Pisces (Feb 19- March 20): You will discover many new places to skate this month. The potential to learn new things is great, but there is also a danger of you hurting yourself. Take on these new spots slowly, treat them as hallowed ground. They may be brand new to you now, but you will be able to go back to them in some capacity for the rest of your life. Take it easy to achieve mastery of harder tricks in the future. Be patient.
Aquarius (Jan 20- Feb 18): Skate with someone you haven’t skated with in a while. Reconnecting to an old buddy will lead you to reflect on your old ways, see how you can apply them to your current style. Do not expect a permanent return from your friend, unless they are a Libra. By the middle of the month a steep hill will be calling your name, remember to carve sharply in one direction to mitigate speed wobbles.
Capricorn (Dec 22- Jan 19): Take your focus away from social media this month. Use the brain space you normally save for watching skate videos on Instagram for yourself. And not for you to post or make edits for the gram, but to look inward and really catalogue your strengths as a skater. As nerdy as it may seem, keep a journal about your habits and strengths. Return to the gram at the end of this month, shiny and new.
Sagitarius (Nov 22- Dec 21): Take a look at your skateboard. Justify your setup in your mind and tweak some differences to improve your range. Whether it’s wheel shape or your trucks tightness, change is good. This month will bring a very drastic change for you, so buckle up and brace yourself. Hold onto your money, you’ll be needing it for an unexpected purchase before the month is through.
Scorpio (Oct 23- Nov 21): Hold on little Scorpio. November is going to bring normalcy back after all the chaos of October. It will come gradually, birthday Scorpios this month may receive the gift of ultimate calm. Grab your board and catch some air, even on the smallest curbs and ramps. Your board wants to be held, someone in your inner circle also wants to be held. Hug your homies, they need it more than you know.
Libra (Sept 23- Oct 22): Read all the Skaterscopes for November. Someone close to you, maybe a Cancer or a Pisces doesn’t know what’s coming this month. It’s your job to tell them, even if they don’t believe in the power of astrology. I swear, this isn’t a promotion move or anything. The cosmic entities that govern life, the universe, and everything told me to write this! They also say “watch your back foot.” Whatever that means.
Virgo (Aug 23- Sept 22): This month you will find many gifts in the public domain. Youtube documentaries about skate culture will enrich a new relationship with a fellow skater. Music that can’t be flagged for copyright will sweeten your edits you post online. A skatepark will be your lucky spot, even if skateparks aren’t your usual scene. Unharbored by the politics of ownership you will land everything except tre flips.
Leo (July 23- Aug 22): Take the guilt out of your guilty pleasure. Let yourself love something uncool out loud. If it’s music that goes against your badass image or a taboo trick this is the month for you to embrace it. Single Leos will find that an acquaintance shares this love. If this acquaintance is a Gemini or a Scorpio intense romance may ensue. Benihana into something headfirst, but keep it metaphorical if you don’t own a helmet.
Cancer (June 21- July 22): Doodle on everything. Your griptape in particular will serve you well if it doubles as a canvas. If you have to lay grip on a new deck this month let yourself be artistic and cut some unique shapes into it. You may find yourself in the center of an artistic work. Wallride on a mural, even if there’s nobody there to film it. You exist in the context of how art makes you feel, not how it looks.
Gemini (May 21 -June 20): Take fortune cookies very seriously. Light snacking during the session will improve your stamina. You’ll need it, as it will take more tries than usual to own a spot. Your perseverance is needed for all ventures on and off the board. You will be lucky if you add a shuvit to the end of your line, luck will double if you can land it in manual. Err on the side of sketchy, though it will cost a few elbow scapes.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Think about how you breathe when you are trying to land a trick. Do you exhale or inhale when you ollie up an obstacle? The celestial bodies recommend you slowly release a sharp exhale as you grind the rail or ollie a gap. Emphasis on your health and wellbeing will bring you success on and off the board. If only there was some kind of Yin Yoga for Skateboarders…..
Aries (March 21- April 19): For twice the stoke and many jokes add an extra board to your session. Goofy or serious tricks involving two boards will grant you good luck this November. The level of difficulty is up to you, but the amount of fun you’ll have will be quite high. If you want to feel like a million dollars ride two boards at the same time, perhaps like skis. You will be surprised where it takes you.
