The conjectural Dimitris Liossis and British brand Animal would like to invite you to Liossis’ second solo exhibition in Athens, Greece. Inspired by street art and the skate/snow culture, the show titled “Redefining Transitions” finds Dimitris Liossis transforming the space at Gallery Sarri 12 into a unique skate ramp reminiscent of a church dome, with a touch of the Renaissance. This stands as a fine example of “skateboarding-meets-art” showcases.
The exhibition is on till 15 April.

We talked with Dimitris Liossis one day before his opening.
Is there a message you’d like to impart on those who will come to your show?
The basic reason an artist hosts a show at a gallery is to impart a message. This particular show has three segments, and three divisive time lines so the messages vary. Of course, every viewer is unique and sees things differently & in their own way.
What are your goals as ANIMAL’s team manager?
My goal at ANIMAL is to create a good team in various sports with new, upcoming riders, and develop alongside them. And support the scene as much as we can.

How do you see the skate scene changing after the closing down of Skate Plaza in Athens, and the subsequent events that took place after?
I think it’s kind of funny and romanticised to expect the government to do anything at this moment when basic institutions like public education, hospitals, infrastructure (roads, sidewalks etc) are broken. It’s just that years ago the EU had subsidised loads of money to local authorities in Greece in order to create skateparks. With only few exceptions such as the city of Chalkida most of the municipalities stuffed it all at their own pockets.
What dream do you want to see come true?
Peace, love, and unity!
Besides this renaissance bowl, what other theme would you like to tackle for your next show?
I’d like to make something out of snow!
