Check out this trailer for filmmaker Thomas Campbell’s upcoming film, “Ye Olde Destruction.” It’s not technically a skate video, but also not not a skate video. Made over the course of 7 years and shot on 16mm film, it’s an ode to the freedom and recklessness of skateboarding, with plenty of pool skating, car smashing, and good old fashioned mayhem. It centers on Campbell’s adventures in (and on!) two old cars — a 70’s Cadillac and Ford station wagon — which involve a whole crew of shredders. From Elissa Steamer to Louie Barletta to Mark Suciu, everyone gets a piece of the action. And Campbell had help capturing it, too, from such luminaries of skate cinematography as French Fred and Jon Miner. The full film is 59 minutes, and Um Yeah Arts just released a rad hardcover photo book documenting the process — featuring photos from Arto Saari and Brian Gaberman, among others — that comes with a streaming code, so you can see the whole thing right now!
