Magenta's Old Woops New Groove

Magenta skateboards may possibly be the only company that embraces skateboarding for what it really stands for: SSTD

In common terms, Speed, Style, Tricks & Downhill. As a personal opinion, I feel that you can only show your real worth as a skateboarder while bombing a hill. Especially in SF where the hills, apart from eyes, have a plethora of spots open to those with the cojones. I don’t care much about spot-boarding, where a skater will go ham on a trick at a specific spot under specific conditions to get a specific “look”. Shoot me but I think that a kicklip, or a tre, or even an ollie look ten times better when done mid hill-bomb than any blizzard-flip to front lip down a 10-flat-10 kink rail.

However this was all me flapping gums while conjecturing. In reality, Magenta pros Leo Valls and Ben Gore sought to bring new life to “The Woops”, the distinct driveway bumps found in SF. The reasoning behind this is that, while once at the forefront of the skateboarding frontier under Tommy Guerrero & co., these spots have all but been completely forgotten. So in homage, and in display of some serious skills and talent, they kindly gave us “Old Woops New Groove”
