The time has come. We are free. Free of grip thumb, free of wheel dirt on our clean white Ts. Finally, the pressure of thinking outside the box has been lifted…for the measly price of $55,ooo.
Last week, the Louis Vuitton and Supreme Skateboard Collection dropped like Bob Burnquist out of a helicopter into a Megaramp. And it costs about the same. It’s great news for all of us who have never been able to find the skateboard carrier to suit our style.
“A skateboard carrier.” I screamed, throwing my Pop Tarts and Mountain Dew up in the air. “Of course. It’s so radding obvious, the gnar rats will love this.” So I rocked on down to the local park and fist bumped the crew. “You’ll never guess what I’ve just seen. Louis Vuitton have teamed up with Supreme!” I can barely hold my breath with excitement, my roll up dickies flopping around over my Chuck Ts. “A skateboard carrier!”
Supreme have always been at the forefront of skateboarding, but this is something else.
But it’s not just the box that Louis Vuitton have given to skateboarding, like Moses emerging with the Ten Commandments tablets. No, there’s also griptape.
When I roll on down to a spot, the first thing I think is “Hey, there are an awful lot of heads with the same griptape.” Indeed, all too often do we see the red carpet of skateboarding littered with the same old black numbers, rough, worn, very much last season. But not anymore…
And to anybody whose worried, thinking that hefty price tag might be pushing them out of getting in on the next big thing… Or if you’re doubting Supreme’s authenticity?
Don’t worry, Supreme issued the following statement:
“Throughout the history of the brand, we’ve seen our customers have apprehensions whenever we do something unexpected. However, we have always stayed true to the culture from which we came.”
