Goodbye, Blue Mondays – Ben Gore
Ben, it turns out, has a pretty keen ear for tunes too, so before we have a proper chat with the man about his work, we thought we’d get inside his head a bit with the music that gets him feeling inspired on and off the board. So here’s Ben Gore’s top five, hit it!
1. Jackie Wilson – (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher
“Higher and Higher is one of those songs that brings a smile to my face whenever it comes on. I’m sure it’s been used in a skate video but I can’t remember who’s. It’s just a great jam to skate to on a lovely summer day.”
2. Ceremony – Open Head
“The perfect song to shred to. Listen to this then go slash some bowls.”
3. Arthur Russell – This Is How We Walk On The Moon
“I only found out about Arthur Russell in the last year or so, and I fell in love with his music instantly. It’s this lovely mix of bittersweet joy and sadness. This is one to listen to while daydreaming on a rainy day.”
4. Otis Redding – Security
“This is just a great jam. I listen to a lot of soul and Otis is one of the greats.”
5. Jamal – Keep It Real
“Keep It Real is a classic hip hop gem. A nice dreamy beat to kick back to.”
Thanks, Ben. Keep pushing…
