“This has been the letters, thanks for watching, turn this shit off, go skateboarding.” Even though we say goodbye to an emblematic figure of skateboarding, these words will continue to echo in our minds. For the freaks and the geeks making the heart and soul of skateboarding will continue to unite and remember the ones before.
Words by Emanuele Barbier
Jeff Grosso didn’t care for the trends, for the money, for the fame. It was all about skateboarding, about the fun of it. In his own words, its beauty comes from the freedom it offers and the lack of rules is procures. So to truly capture the essence of his words, we compiled some of our favourite Loveletters.
“It’s about a couple of kids, being like-minded, finding one another and fucking walking out their front door, exploring the world around them and how they view it. Right? And there it is, having fun,” – Jeff Grosso
Through his series, he set records straight on skateboarding history while inspiring generations of skaters. Jeff didn’t only look to skateboarders that marked history, he talked about every string making the very fabric of what skateboarding is today. Educating those of us born well after the 80s’, his videos are an opportunity to deep dive into the roots of skateboarding.
With his humour, wit and honesty, Jeff Grosso brought smiles and laughs to many. The emblematic rider and skateboarding’s unofficial historian will be greatly missed. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
Following up, this is our compilation of Love(letters).
