An Ode to Dylan Reider

Dylan had been skating for just under 2 decades when he died from complications due to Leukemia at the age 28. For so many this news was shocking, as the news of his illness was not largely publicised. For those who did know, Dylan’s confidence that he would soon be back on a board was enough to put minds at rest. Unfortunately, after battling with cancer for over a year, Rieder died on Wednesday 11th October 2016.

It’s time to celebrate his life, so we put together An Ode to Dylan Rieder; a collection of great video parts released during his career. Watch, share, live, skate.

Dylan Rieder has died

Dylan Rieder grew up in Westminster, California, and started skating at the age of nine.

His confidence on a board caught the eyes of the skate scene, and at 18 years old he went pro for Alien Workshop.

He was the golden boy of skateboarding. Absolutely obliterating any spot with his incredible flowy style and gorgeous take on so many tricks that had never looked that good before.

In 2009, Alien Workshop brought out Mind Field, which saw Dylan take to new heights.

He dropped out of Alien Workshop when Dill left, and started Fucking Awesome with fellow team-mate Ave.

He featured heavily in Supreme’s Cherry video, and in 2014 began modelling for DKNY in their Spring 2014 Ad Campaign.

He will be greatly missed, and that fact that we will not get another Rieder part saddens us very deeply. We hope you’ve enjoyed An Ode to Dylan Rieder. Dylan’s family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the city of hope charity.

RIP Dylan
